Psychedelic Therapy
Psilocybin/Mushroom Therapy in Colorado
I am currently in training through the University of Colorado in Denver to become licensed as a Clinical Facilitator for Psilocybin [aka “Magic Mushrooms”] Therapy in Colorado.
Psychedelic therapy has shown incredible promise in helping people significantly reduce or heal PTSD, Depression and Anxiety symptoms, which is why I am making the significant investment in training to be able to offer this service.
This service will likely be structured very similar to the Retreat Style EMDR Intensive service, customized to fit the psychedelic model. We can do the preparation work ahead of the journey and the integration work legally from Kansas or Colorado, in person or by televideo. The administration session, or journey, must be done at a Licensed Healing Center in Colorado. When we are ready to schedule that, we’ll work together to identify a healing center in Colorado and schedule time for your Journey. I encourage you to make this a retreat for yourself, and plan to be in Colorado at least a day before and a day after your scheduled Journey date.
Currently, I am projecting to be able to offer the psilocybin journey sessions starting in August 2026. That said, if someone would like to get started with preparation to be ready as soon as I’m able to offer the journey in Colorado, we can get started with that portion any time. Please contact me if you would like to get started with preparation work now, or if you would like to be on a notification list for when I am able to schedule the journey session!
In the mean time, I am also able to help you get the most out of your ketamine/Spravato treatments at other clinics or make plans for and integrate your own private medicine work safely.
Ketamine-Assisted EMDR
In addition to working toward offering psilocybin therapy in Colorado, I am now able to offer Ketamine-Assisted EMDR right here in Manhattan, KS!
Ketamine works in the brain in similar-but-different ways to psilocybin, and when a lower dose is combined with EMDR, it can help promote greater empathy and relaxation while diminishing the fear response. It can help people safely and effectively confront and process traumatic memories and emotions. Another way to think of it is, it can help ease mental barriers that may be making it difficult to access and heal trauma. Ketamine is legal in all 50 states and approved to treat depression and other concerns.
Ketamine-Assisted EMDR combines the healing potential of Ketamine with the healing potential of EMDR, and the result is likely greater than the sum of the parts.
Ketamine-Assisted EMDR sessions will be scheduled as Hybrid Intensive EMDR sessions. You will work with Roger Kirkwood, APRN FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC at Kansas Psychiatric and Wellness Services for the ketamine prescription. Roger will assess for medical appropriateness and schedule you for two Ketamine treatment sessions in his office, to ensure no issues arise (such as unanticipated increase of heart rate). Once the safety assessments are done, you will be allowed to take the ketamine nasal spray with you to self-administer.
While you are working through the safety protocol, we can work through EMDR preparation work.
Once you are able to self-administer the ketamine, you will bring it to your Intensive EMDR session with me. You’ll self-administer the ketamine (at a lower dose) and we will start the EMDR reprocessing. Note that it will be important to have a ride home secured for after the sessions.
